Falkland beat Norwood by 21 runs
With Saturday's rain rendering Scroggie unplayable, our Sunday team played against Norwood on the 3rd XI pitch.
This was a fantastic game played in great spirit and one in which all of the young players involved made a contribution.
Losing the toss, captain Greg Chambers and the team were invited to bat first. After a decent start from Dev and Richie, the innings faltered and wickets fell at regular intervals until Ryan Jennings on his senior debut for the club, and Logan Briggs steadied the ship with 12 and 15 respectively.
This allowed Tony (21) to hit some big blows before Lyle and Aaron's 50 run partnership for the last wicket, Lyle finishing 47 no and Aaron on 3, (facing 23 balls) - a critical innings that allowed the score to rise to 149 all out.
Tony and Aaron took the new ball and bowled tidily without success. The opposition were going along nicely at 57 for 0 before Logan Briggs, in a spell of 6 overs 2 for 8 had one of the openers caught by Bakie and Ryan Jennings clean bowled the dangerous Saeed for 41.
Wickets fell steadily after that with Ryan finishing on 4 for 28. Tidy bowling from Bakie, Tony again, and youngsters Hamish Wood (0/9) and George Cutler in his first senior match (0/10), and some committed fielding made runs hard to come by.
When Logan restricted the batsmen to only 5 singles from the final over, the innings closed down at 128 for 7 and we had secured a victory by 21 runs.
If the rest of the season is as good as this it will be very enjoyable
