Norwood 55 all out
(T. Collins 4 for 17, Sc. Meikle 3 for 8)
Falkland XI won by 42 runs
Falkland's Sunday XI travelled to Dundee to take on Norwood at Dawson Park on Sunday. The wicket could charitably be described as interesting - remind me never to complain about our artificial again - and when I lost the toss the opposition had no hesitation in asking us to bat.
At 7 for 3 that was looking like a good decision as the wicket gave a whole new set of parameters to inconsistent. Ian Collins then made an important 12 and Bakie a vital 32 - proving that technical batting ability wasn't the key skill to scoring runs.
At the end of the innings, Peter Matthews batted well with Ben and although 4 doesn't look a lot, Ben made 23 whilst he was at the other end allowing us to post a total of 97.
The wicket proved as helpful to us as Scott Meikle, making his annual appearance, took two early wickets and Ben picked up an LBW bowling off breaks.
Then Tom Collins came on to bowl and had his first wicket when dad Ian took a steepling catch at long on. Wickets then fell regularly with Tom ending up with 4, (played 2 wickets 8), Scott 3 and Dev and Peter 1 each to close the innings on 55.
