Robertson Family Dominant in Opening League Win For Sunday XI

Standing in for me at the toss, Greg lost and we were asked to field. Kris Glen and Scott Robertson opened the bowling and despite some early runs, we had the opposition 2 down in the 6th over with Scott claiming both openers including the overseas player Mohale caught a slip.

Wickets fell steadily thereafter with Scott and Dev May each claiming 3 and Greg and Lyle 2. The Glenrothes captain Justis batted at 10 and made 46 meaning they closed their innings on144.

Our reply started badly with yours truly being bowled for 1 and Dev following me back soon after. From there, Lyle Robertson took over. Having given an early stumping chance, he played an excellent and mature innings, illustrated by the number of singles and 2s in his 68. He was well supported, first by Harry Ferguson, (20) then by his dad (26), whom he seemed to be trying to coach at times as well. Scott and Mel then saw us home for a good 5 wickets win.

This was a game played in great spirit and was a fine advert for rec and dev cricket. Many thanks to all involved
