Falkland 3 beat Dunfermline & Carnegie 2 by 20 runs
With the weather beating any attempt to render Scroggie playable for the 1st XI, the 3rd XI match was the only game in town - and what a strange game it was.
Winning the toss, Jamie decided to bat and Robbie Disborough and '3rd XI Pro' Mikey Mo put on well over 100 for the first wicket. Despite the soggy outfield, a number of 4s were scored before Robbie eventually fell for 58.
After that, Harry fell cheaply LBW before youngsters Emma, Ian, Hamish and Andrew all batted well and Mikey eventually retired for 104. A total of 244 for 5 from our 35 overs always looked enough, but it did threaten to get close at times
Taking the field, it was clear that Mikey's batting had rendered him virtually motionless! The opposition openers started slowly in the face of some tight bowling from Robbie and Jamie, but as the changes occurred they picked up the rate and the wicket just wouldn't come.
Falkland were always in control - just - with consistent fielding and young legs to chase the ball down on the drying ground.
At the end, Emma's spell of 7 overs for 35 was crucial, the last five of these going for only 17. With the innings closing in a downpour on 224, Falkland won, despite being unable to take a wicket.
