Falkland 2s produced a superb all‑round performance at Dalnacraig on Sunday, chasing down 206 with nine wickets in hand and almost 27 overs to spare — a dominant display built on disciplined bowling, sharp fielding, and one of the great individual innings in recent club memory.
DHSFPs chose to bat first, and Falkland struck immediately. Scott Meikle’s sharp work in the ring created a run‑out in the opening over, setting the tone for a fielding effort that stayed tight throughout. The new‑ball pairing of Greg Chambers and George Cutler kept things controlled, and while Greg’s competitive streak surfaced early in a brief exchange with the home skipper, it certainly helped set the intensity for the day.
Through the middle overs, Daniel Styer (1‑34) and Kyle Lottering (1‑29) bowled with excellent discipline, drying up scoring options and forcing mistakes. Homayon Gajarwal (1‑20) delivered a superb spell at the death, supported again by George and Dan as Falkland closed out the innings well. DHSFPs finished on 206/8, boosted by 42 extras but kept in check by Falkland’s consistency.
The chase, however, was a one‑sided affair.
Callum May (34 off 48) provided the perfect foil at the top of the order, rotating strike and allowing the innings to settle. At the other end, Kyle Lottering played one of the finest knocks ever seen in Falkland colours — an extraordinary 151 from just 62 balls*, featuring 18 boundaries, 10 sixes and a scoring rate that never relented. He dismantled the attack with clean hitting, smart placement, and complete control.
By the time Callum fell with the score on 194, the result was long beyond doubt. George Cutler (1)* joined Kyle to finish the job, and Falkland cruised to 207/1 in only 18.5 overs, sealing a statement victory.
A complete performance: disciplined with the ball, sharp in the field, and utterly ruthless with the bat.
