West Lothian 2nd XI 157 for 8
(D. Lindsay 3 for 32, M. Watson 2 for 28)
Falkland 2nd XI 158 for 6
(W. Sullivan 43 no, D. Lindsay 24 no, St Meikle 23)
Falkland Won by 4 Wkts.
Falkland 2nd XI travelled to Linlithgow to play the West Lothian 2nd string on the first warm sunny day of the season. Losing the toss, Falkland were invited to field and it was Scott Meikle and Greg Chambers who took the new ball.
A sharply executed run out involving the Callums, May and Watson gave Falkland their first wicket. Mike Watson then came on to strangle the West Lothian batting bowling 4 consecutive maidens and picking up a wicket. Callum Watson then picked up a wicket and Scott Meikle came back to get one before Wayne turned to the secret weapon, Deek Lindsay who picked up 3 for 32.
We would have restricted them to less than 157 for 8 but for the opener Drylie who carried his bat for 94.
Falkland’s reply was opened by Mikey Morris and Scuba. The former unfortunately departed early but Scuba made a useful 23 and Scholsey 19 batting at three. The rate was being restricted however and we were only 60 for 3 at drinks. After that, Callums, May and Bell this time, looked to accelerate taking quick singles. At the fall of Callum Bell’s wicket, a change in the batting order brought Scott Meikle to the crease who employed his own style of batting to increase the rate with a quickfire 19 before being bowled going for another big shot.
Wayne then came out and scored a confident 43 no, (with the help of Scott as a runner), and he was joined by Deek who made 24 no to steer us home with 8 balls to spare.
