The 2s continued their impressive start to the season with a dominant win against SMRH 2's who like the hosts had a 100% record in the league.
The visitors won the toss and put us in to bat on a rather soggy and slow wicket. We had a steady start with Hammy Jnr and Scuba batting sensibily, when Scuba nicked one to the visiting keeper we were 37/1. Rory attempted to quicken the run rate but also nicked one behind. At 49/2 the game was evenly balanced. Hammy was continueing to bat sensibily and along with Mike Morris, started to make some progress. Hammy departed shortly after drinks bur the score had moved on to 70. After Callum and Scholsey lost their wickets cheaply the game was in the balance again. Mike's batting was a bit scratchy but two decent partnerships with Avin and Hammy Snr seen the total approach a reasonable score. The innings closed on 152/9 and Mike carried his bat through the innings finishing up on 49 not out.
152 was a decent score on what proved to be a difficult wicket and slow outfield.
The game was almost out of reach for SMRH after 18 overs. Although not getting the wickets they deserved Avin and Hammy Jnr both had awesome spells of bowling and on numerous occasions the SMRH were not even close to hitting the ball, bamboozled I think the word would be. Both openers finished with figures of, 9 overs 1 wicket 11 runs. Just what we had wanted. From there on in SMRH were well behind the run rate and never in the game. The 2s continued to bowl tight and feild well restricting the visitors to singles and the occasional two's. The game was over by the time Hammy Snr and Scuba wrapped up the game by taking 5 wickets between them and leave SMRH all out for 102. It is now 3 and 0 for the two's. Bring on next week...........
