Falkland Power Into the Final

Falkland Power Into the Final

Cameron Nellies

Mufti’s brilliance and a clinical bowling display seal a 25‑run semi‑final win at Lochlands.

Falkland booked their place in the CS T20 Cup regional final with a strong, controlled performance against Arbroath United at Lochlands, winning by 25 runs in a high‑tempo semi‑final. A powerful batting display set the tone before a disciplined bowling effort closed out the game with authority.

Batting first after winning the toss, Falkland came out firing. Devon May set the tone immediately with a blistering 28 from 16 balls, striking five fours and a six in a statement opening burst. Sriram Muramalla kept the momentum going with an equally aggressive 37 from 26, clearing the ropes three times and pushing Falkland to 44-3 inside the powerplay.

Arbroath hit back with quick wickets, removing Kyle Lottering, Lyle Robertson and Tassawar Hussain in a tight middle‑overs spell. But Falkland’s innings was rebuilt - and then ignited - by Adnan Mufti, who produced a superb match‑defining knock. His 59 not out from 36 balls, featuring eight fours and a six, lifted Falkland from 86–6 to a strong total of 157 for 7 from their 20 overs. It was a composed, high‑quality innings under pressure, and ultimately the difference between the sides.

Defending 157, Falkland struck early. Taha Khan removed Visser and Sinclair in a sharp opening spell, finishing with excellent figures of 3 for 16 from 4 overs. Lyle Robertson then made a major impact with the ball, taking 3 for 23, including the key wickets of Worth, Brown and Small, breaking Arbroath’s middle order just as they threatened to build momentum.

Arbroath’s resistance came through Brown (29) and Laing (15*), but Falkland’s bowlers kept control throughout, mixing pace, length and pressure to restrict scoring opportunities. With boundaries drying up and the required rate climbing, Arbroath closed on 132 for 7, giving Falkland a confident 25‑run victory and a place in the regional final later that afternoon.

It was a complete T20 performance: explosive starts with the bat, a match‑winning innings from Adnan, and a disciplined, clinical bowling display led by Taha and Lyle. Falkland advanced to the final with momentum and belief.
