Falkland produced another excellent performance on Saturday at Inverleith, defeating Stewart’s Melville by 15 runs in a reduced 35‑over match. The win was built around a superb batting display led by Lyle Robertson, who continued his outstanding form with his second consecutive league century.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Falkland were tested early. Steven Meikle, Kyle Lottering and Sriram Muramalla all fell inside the first six overs, leaving the visitors 33-3 and needing a rebuild. What followed was a composed and decisive partnership between Lyle Robertson and Jarryd Lookwhy, who steadied the innings and then began to take control.

Lyle was once again the standout performer, striking 102 from 87 balls, including eight fours and five sixes. His ability to dominate bowlers, change tempo, and score freely all around the wicket has become a defining feature of Falkland’s season. Jarryd supported him well with a patient 32 from 54, guiding the innings through its middle phase.

After Jarryd fell at 105-4, Falkland finished strongly thanks to Adnan Mufti, who played a crucial late‑innings role. His 46 not out from 36 balls - featuring five boundaries and a six - ensured Falkland posted an imposing 215 for 5 from their 35 overs.

With the ball, Falkland started sharply. Taha Khan struck early and delivered an excellent spell of 7 overs, 3 for 42, removing Armstrong and Tetley and returning at key moments. Daniel Styer, Adnan Mufti, Logan Briggs, and Lyle Robertson each picked up a wicket, keeping Stewart’s Melville behind the rate throughout the chase.

The hosts’ middle order fought hard - Waddups made 54 and Chowdhury added 57 - but Falkland’s bowlers maintained control, limiting boundaries and forcing Stewart’s Melville to take risks. Despite 28 extras boosting the total, the home side finished on 200 for 7, with Falkland closing out a confident 15‑run win.

It was another excellent team performance, highlighted by Lyle’s extraordinary run of form and backed up by disciplined bowling and a strong finish with the bat. With two consecutive hundreds and Falkland’s momentum building, the 1s head into this weekend full of confidence.
