Falkland slipped to a disappointing 45‑run defeat at Inch Park on Saturday, undone by a chase that never quite found its rhythm after a disciplined bowling effort earlier in the day.

Having won the toss and bowled first, Falkland started well. Taha Khan (3‑29) made key breakthroughs, supported by George Cutler (2‑30) and Daniel Styer (1‑36), with Jack Henderson (1‑35) and Logan Briggs (1‑31) keeping things tight through the middle overs. Although Asghar’s patient 30 and Din’s late hitting pushed Edinburgh South up to 187/9, Falkland’s bowlers had largely controlled the innings.

However, 34 extras — including 20 wides — and a few missed chances handed the hosts valuable runs that ultimately proved costly.

The chase began positively through Steven Meikle (20) and Kyle Lottering (15), but wickets began to fall in clusters. From 40‑1 to 57‑2, then 71‑3 and 111‑4, momentum slipped away each time it threatened to build. Sriram Muramalla (17) and Adnan Mufti (21) tried to steady things, but regular breakthroughs from Sandaru — who finished with 5‑14 — kept Falkland on the back foot.

A late stand from Cutler held up one end, but the innings closed on 142 all out, leaving Falkland short of what had looked a very chaseable total.

A disciplined bowling display deserved more, but the batting never fully settled, and losing wickets in bunches proved decisive. A frustrating result — and one the side will feel was within reach — but with clear lessons to take forward.
