Falkland produced one of their most complete performances of the season to claim a hugely satisfying 32‑run win away at Carlton — a ground where victories have been notoriously hard to come by. This one felt like a weight lifted.

After being asked to bat, Falkland made an excellent start through Steven Meikle (33) and Lyle Robertson (27), with Meikle's clean early hitting setting the tone. But the defining innings of the day — and arguably of the season so far — came from Sriram Muramalla, who crafted a superb, mature 100 from 123 balls. He anchored the entire innings, managed the tempo perfectly, and batted brilliantly with the lower order when wickets began to fall.

A special mention goes to George Cutler, whose 37‑ball stay at the crease allowed Sri to keep going at the other end and push Falkland up to a competitive 226 all out. On a pitch offering something for the bowlers, that partnership was absolutely vital.

Defending 226, Falkland needed early discipline — and once again Taha Khan delivered. His spell was exceptional: 10 overs, 2 maidens, 3 for 27, right on the money every ball and giving Carlton’s top order no chance to settle. His breakthroughs set the tone for the innings.

Carlton threatened at times through McBride and Jhala, but Falkland kept chipping away. Lyle Robertson (2‑24) struck twice in the middle overs, Tassawar Hussain (2‑17) removed two key lower‑order batters, and wickets from Styer, Briggs and Cutler ensured the pressure never eased. Carlton were eventually bowled out for 194, sealing a hard‑earned and long‑overdue win at Grange Loan.

A mature batting effort, disciplined bowling, and a performance full of character — and finally, a victory against a side Falkland “always seem to find a way to lose to”. Not this time.
