Falkland Crush Forfarshire in T20 Scottish Cup Qualifier

On the evening of Tuesday 13th June, Falkland’s 1st XI travelled to Forthill to play Forfarshire’s 1stXI in the final round of the Caley Region T20 Scottish Cup qualifying competition.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat first and scored briskly but lost wickets at regular intervals. Reaching 161 runs from their allotted 20 overs having lost 8 wickets in the process. Forfarshire’s Bailwal top scoring with 38 runs off 27 deliveries.
Falkland’s wicket takers were; Greg Chambers 2 for 17, Ryan Jennings 2 for 20, Kyle Jacobs 2 for 34, Alan Hamilton 1 for 19 and Jeremy Martins 1 for 49.

Having been set a scoring rate of just over 8 runs an over to win, Falkland’s Kyle Jacobs and Jeremy Martins opened the batting. Both settled in to the task extremely well and had scored 95 before Kyle Jacobs was caught at long on by Lyle Robertson off the bowling of Fraser Ross. Kyle scored 63 runs from 32 balls, having reached his 50 in just 25 balls. Adam Ferguson joined Jeremy Martins in the middle and saw Falkland through to an emphatic victory over last year’s competition winners.

Jeremy was not out 59 from 42 deliveries (having reached his 50 in 36 deliveries) and Adam was not out 31 from 28 deliveries.

Falkland won by 9 Wickets and progress to the competition’s finals day at Arbroath as the Caley region’s top qualifiers.
