Falkland Cruise Past Meigle Again in T20 Scottish Cup

For the third time in a matter of weeks Falkland welcomed the Meigle side to Scroggie Park. On this occasion it was for the 3rd round of the SPCU Caley Region T20 Scottish Cup competition.

Meigle won the toss and decided to bat first. Falklands bowlers prevented the visitors from settling into their innings with wickets falling at regular intervals. Highest scorer for Meigle was Sohail Ahmed with 20 runs from 23 balls. Meigle finished on 115 for 9 from their 20 overs. Falkland’s George Cutler returned bowling figures of 3 for 18 from his 4 overs.

The Falkland innings started with a set back as the home side found themselves with just 3 runs on the board for the loss of 2 wickets in only the 2nd over. At this point Falkland’s Captain Jack Henderson joined Jeremy Martins in the middle. After some fine shots Jeremy reached his 50 in just 27 balls, thus rescuing the Falkland innings but on the very next ball he was well caught by Sami Ejaz. Falkland’s total was now 70 for 3. Julian De Jager joined Jack Henderson and quickly added 34 (from 28 balls) to cruise past Meigle’s first innings total. Jack Henderson’s was also not out and finished with 19 from 35 balls. Falkland ended on 119 for 3 from 16.1 overs and won the match by 7 wickets.

Falkland’s next match in this competition is away from home playing Strathmore at Lochside Park on the evening of the 8th June.
