The Cricket Scotland Men’s T20 Scottish Cup, formerly known as the Murgitroyd T20,
is this year being played throughout the season split into 4 regional qualifying tournaments, culminating in a finals day.

This was the second of these qualifying matches at Scroggie Park.

Falkland Captain Jack Henderson won the toss and elected to bat first.
Despite the early loss of opener Euan Sloan, Kyle Jacobs and Jeremy Martins set a fast scoring rate before Jacobs was bowled by Lee Paterson for 28 from 29 balls and Martins bowled by Craig Ross for 38 from just 19 balls. Falkland’s total was brilliantly added to by Julian De Jäger who hit 51 from 34 balls and was not out. Connor Langlands added 20 from 13 balls before being run out after some sharp fielding by Luke Hayes. Falkland scored 162 for the loss of 6 wickets from their allotted 20 overs.

The Arbroath openers Marc Petrie and Pranav Saravanan set off at a brisk rate. However, after Saravanan (16 runs off 20 balls) was caught by Alan Hamilton off Logan Briggs’ bowling and Petrie (50 runs off 29 balls) was caught by Logan Briggs off a Ryan Jennings delivery the reply petered out. Arbroath were all out for 110 from 19.4 overs.

Ryan Jennings returned bowling figures of 4 wickets for 16 runs and Logan Briggs 3 wickets for 19 runs.
Falkland won by 52 runs.

Falkland next play Meigle in this competition on the evening of Tuesday 30th May at Scroggie Park.
