The 10th round of the Eastern Premier League saw Falkland’s 1st XI travel into Edinburgh on a blustery and sometimes wet Saturday to play RH Corstorphine. The home side won the toss and elected to field.
Steven Meikle (24 runs from 43 balls) and Falkland’s Captain Jack Henderson (42 runs from 40 balls) gave the visitors an excellent start pushing the total to 81 runs before both were out. Falkland then lost wickets at regular intervals before Julian De Jager was joined by Connor Langlands and this 7th wicket partnership put on 76 runs before Connor was bowled having scored 36 from 35 balls. Julian finished the innings not out 50 from 44 balls ( he reached his 50 in 42 balls). Falkland were all out for 222 after 49.1 overs.
The Corstorphine innings saw Falkland’s bowlers on top with only opener Rane and bowler Whitefoord making any kind of a score. Whitefoord scored 41 from 50 balls before being bowled by Logan Briggs. Rane was the last wicket to fall being bowled by Logan Briggs having scored 72 from 112 balls. RH Corstorphine were all out for 162 from 42.2 overs.
Falkland’s wicket takers were Logan Briggs 2 wickets for 11 runs, Jeremy Martins 2 for 20, Ryan Hepburn 3 for 35, Kyle Jacobs 2 for 35 and Ryan Jennings 1 for 28.
Falkland won by 60 runs. Their next match in this league is against Forfarshire at Scroggie Park on Saturday 8th July.
