On a lovely Summer’s day, the Carlton 1st XI was welcomed to Scroggie park for an Eastern Premier League fixture. The visitors won the toss and chose to bat first.
The innings initially failed to gather any momentum against good bowling by the home side. At one stage Carlton had only 79 runs on the scoreboard for the loss of 8 wickets. However, the last 2 wickets added 57 runs and Carlton were all out for 136 runs from 47.1 overs.
Falkland’s wicket takers were; Ryan Hepburn 3 for 17, Jack Henderson 2 for 10, Jeremy Martins 2 for 11, Kyle Jacobs 2 for 23 and Logan Briggs 1 for 27.
Expectant Falkland supporters watched the home side begin their innings in a very controlled fashion reaching 99 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Falkland’s Captain Jack Henderson having scored 41 before being caught by Ruairidh Main off the bowling of David Saul.
With the score on ‘Nelson’, 111, the Falkland innings stumbled with the loss of 5 wickets for only 5 runs added to the total. Falkland were all out for 126 runs from 39.5 overs.
The Carlton wicket takers were; their Captain, Arun Pillai 3 for 17, Rory Allardice 3 for 23 and David Saul 3 for 38.
Carlton won by 10 runs
