Falkland Crush Kelburne in Scottish Cup

In the first round of the Cricket Scotland Men’s Scottish Cup, Falkland welcomed Kelburne who play in the WDCU Western Premier Two division. With the weather overcast and ground conditions damp, Falkland’s Captain Jack Henderson won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first.

Kelburne had difficulty progressing their innings thanks to fine bowling and catching by the home side and were all out for 58 from just 25.2 overs. Top scorer was Jamie Cook with 17 from 36 balls. All of Falkland’s bowlers returned excellent figures:-
Logan Briggs 3 overs 3 wickets for 2 runs, Greg Chambers 4.2 overs 2 wickets for 14 runs, Jeremy Martins 8 overs 2 wickets for 17 runs and Ryan Hepburn 10 overs 3 wickets for 21 runs. Jeremy Martins also took 5 catches.

Falkland reached their target in just 14 overs. Although having lost 3 wickets in doing so, the innings was nicely finished by Justin De Jager hitting his second six to push Falkland’s total to 61.
Falkland won by 7 wickets and in the next round will travel into Edinburgh to play either Edinburgh CC or Carlton CC.
