Falkland 1st XI Won by 4 wkts
In a fine performance before a large crowd at Falkland on Sunday, Falkland beat Freuchie by 4 wickets thanks mainly to a stand of 120 for the 6th wicket between Euan Sloan and Jack Henderson who took the scored from 25 for 5, an unlikely victory position, to 145 for 6, a stand of 120.
Earlier Freuchie had posted the competitive 168 for 7 off 40 Overs, thanks mainly to Ian Stonebridge's 39 and Dale Cowan's 36 not out, with Lyle Robertson being the pick of the Falkland bowlers with 3 for 35. The innings had ended strongly with some mighty hitting from Dale Cowan, and it was generally agreed to be a fair total in the conditions when rain often threatened, although Falkland had helped by conceding 32 extras
After 12 Overs with Falkland 25 for 5, no-one would have given very much for Falkland's chances in the next round, but Jack Henderson and Euan Sloan took a grip of the situation, both batted aggressively and sensibly and saw Falkland home in the 35th Over, just before heavy rain came on.
It was an excellent game of village cricket at its best between Fife's two great sides and Falkland now travel to Meigle for the Scottish Final of the Village Cup on Sunday June 5
