Falkland 1st XI Lost by 166 Runs
A Promising Start but Ending in Disappointment
On Saturday 7th May, Falkland’s 1st XI travelled to Aberdeenshire for their second match in the Eastern Premier League, to play Stoneywood Dyce.
Falkland won the toss and asked the home side to bat first.
Falkland started brilliantly. Ryan Hepburn restricted the scoring at one end while Charlie Cassell took 3 wickets and Greg Chambers took 2 at the other. Leaving the batting side languishing on 56 for 5.
However, the next 2 batters, Bester and Maclaren rescued the innings by scoring 127 and 64 respectively. This enabled Stoneywood Dyce to reach 280 for 7 wickets from their 50 overs.
Falkland’s reply never achieved any momentum. Only Steven Meikle (42 from 47 balls) made any headway. The match ended when Falkland were all out for 114.
