Falkland 1st XI travelled to Lochlands, home ground of Arbroath United Cricket Club. The home team won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first.

Graeme Watson and Euan Sloan opened the batting for Falkland and put on 59 before Graeme was dismissed for 39. Euan was joined in the middle by Falkland’s Captain, Steven Meikle and the score increased at an excellent rate. Steven reaching his 50 from just 47 balls. Euan Sloan was Stumped for 79 (from 114 balls), the partnership putting on 125 runs. After the early loss of Harsha Cooray, Steven was joined by Lyle Robertson who added a very useful 32 not out from 20 balls. Falkland reached a substantial 278 for the loss of 3 wickets from their 45 overs. Steven Meikle was 91 not out from just 76 balls.

Possibly daunted by the asking rate of over 6 runs an over, Arbroath’s reply never really gained any momentum and they were all out for 82 after 33.2 overs. Lyle Robertson returned figures of 5 wickets for 22 runs from his 9 overs (3 of these Wickets were sharp catches by Paul Watson). Greg Chambers had 3 for 25 from his 9 overs.

Falkland won by 196 runs. A very good performance by the Falkland team.
