Falkland defeat Kinloch....and the weather!

On Saturday 3rd July, Falkland 1st XI travelled to Strathmore’s home ground of Lochside Park, Forfar to play the Kinloch 1st XI. Captain Adam Ferguson won the toss for Falkland and elected to bat first. Falkland’s batsmen put on a very good show and Adam Ferguson lead the way by scoring 109 from 115 balls. He was ably assisted by Matt Surrey (35), Steven Meikle (51), Harsha Cooray (58) and Arul Senthil (11). The visitors scored 284 for 3 from their 45 overs.

Following news that the match at Scroggie Park had been affected by heavy rain and that rain was now at Dundee, a good Captaincy decision was made to quickly bowl at least 20 overs in order for the match to be valid. Kinloch batsmen found the bowling too hard to cope with and had scored 88 for the loss of 7 Wickets when the rain arrived and forced the teams off the field. There were fine bowling figures returned by Falkland’s bowlers including Greg Chambers with 2 wickets for 3 runs from his 2 overs, Logan Briggs 2 for 13 from 5 overs and Harsha Cooray 2 for 35 from 9 overs.

23.2 overs of Kinloch’s innings had been bowled by Falkland which required the result to be worked out using SPCU’s ‘Rain Calculator’. This determined a win for Falkland by 134 runs.
