A glorious Summer Tuesday evening at Scroggie Park saw Falkland take on Glenrothes in a semi final of the Fife Cup.
Falkland won the toss and chose to bat. The home side posted a total of 113 for 6 wickets from their 20 overs with Captain Stuart Campbell top scoring with 35.
The visitors innings started at a pace with 25 runs off the first 3 overs. However, in the 10th over Grant Langlands removed both openers and followed that up in his next one by taking the wicket of the Glenrothes Captain, Safyann Shariff, thanks to a sharp catch by Adam Ferguson behind the stumps. Despite Grant Langlands adding to his achievements during the evening by taking 2 catches, Glenrothes went on to win the match with 5 balls left. There final score was 114 for 5 from 19.1 overs.
Although this was a disappointing defeat, the Glenrothes side was pretty well their 1st XI and so the Falkland youngsters really did show their potential...a great prospect in just a few years time.
