Falkland Lost by 5 Wkts
Falkland lost in the Village Cup to Hawk Green, near Stockport in Lancashire on Sunday. It was a spirited fight by the Scottish team in front of a large support but basically the better team won on the day.
Falkland won the toss and batted, got off to a good start through openers Henderson and Ferguson, but then the innings slowed down for a spell before Stuart Campbell hit a quick fire 52 to give Falkland a respectable total of 179 in their 40 overs.
It might have been enough, but the Lancashire side had several good batsmen, and the total was reached with a few overs to spare. For a spell when Ditchmen and Sullivan were bowling, Falkland kept them quiet, but when the two Australians finished their spell, there was one bad over and several mediocre ones, and Hawk Green finished worthy winners.
We wish them well in future rounds of the competition.
