Falkland on Sunday bounced back from their dreadful defeat at the hands of Carlton to beat Meigle and to win the Scottish section of the Village Cup. The game started in damp conditions, but the weather gradually improved as did the expressions of the Falkland supporters as they watched their team coast to an easy victory. The crowd was a fairly large one which enjoyed the sporting cricket and the fine conditions.

Meigle chose to bat first and their total of 117 all out never did look like as if it were going to be enough. Only Peter Drummond with 32, Alan Neave with 29 and a few late hits from Charles Clark made any impression on a tight Falkland attack for whom Henderson with 3 for 9 and Ditchmen with 3 for 8 were outstanding. A total of 13 Maidens were bowled and the fielding was consistently sharp.

Falkland reached the total with 7 wickets and 7 Overs to spare, Henderson hitting 37, Ferguson 28 and Ditchmen a solid 25 not out. A trip to Yorkshire now beckons for the next Round on June 28.
