Falkland 52 all out
(A Evans 3 for 15, T Freshwater 3 for 13)
Carlton 53 for 0 wicket
Falkland Lost by 10 Wkts.
Falkland suffered an embarrassing 10 wicket defeat to the crack Edinburgh side Carlton at Scroggie Park on Saturday. Admittedly the home side were without Safyaan Sharif and Ryan Hepburn, but Carlton were also without Preston Mommsen. The conditions were damp and overcast, and Falkland made the questionable decision to bat first when they won the toss. They had no real answer to the pace of Ally Evans and Tommy Freshwater, and subsided to 52 all out. Most of the catches were taken in the slips and behind the stumps by the competent Carlton fielders, but Falkland did not help themselves with an unnecessary run out. Only Cameron Nellies reached double figures, and there were 3 ducks in what can only be described as a woeful Falkland performance, something that disappointed the fair amount of spectators in attendance.
As depressing as anything else was the fact that Carlton needed only 8 Overs to knock off the required 53 runs from a demoralised Falkland side. Falkland visit Grange in Edinburgh next week in the league. It is hard to be sanguine about their prospects.
