Falkland beat Stoneywood-Dyce by 4 wkts
Falkland had a good win at Stoneywood-Dyce in Aberdeen on Saturday in blustery but bright conditions. The Aberdeen side won the toss and chose to bat, reaching a competitive 182 for 8 in their allotted 50 Overs. Their top scorer was M Ali who reached 37, and a pleasing aspect of the Falkland bowling was that all the wickets were shared around, and no bowler conceded more than 50 runs. Safyaan Sharif's Scotland commitments prevented him from bowling, but the other bowlers stepped into the breach for him. The fielding was also good enough, but less acceptable were the 18 Wides conceded, although perhaps the windy conditions can be used as an excuse to a certain extent.
Falkland's reply owed almost everything to Safyaan Sharif's 89, although Adam Ferguson also contributed with 31 as did Brock Ditchmen with 20 not out in conditions which were far from easy for playing cricket. It was a good away win, though, against chivalrous opponents, and Falkland have now won 4 games and lost 3 in the Eastern Premier League. A stern task however awaits next Saturday in the shape of title challenging Carlton.
