On a fine evening at the lovely Gilvenbank Park, Glenrothes, Falkland won the 2014 Fife Cup with a degree of ease in front of a large crowd of spectators with Falkland well represented.
Brock Ditchmen won the toss and put Glenrothes in, a decision which seemed to be a very wise one when the Glens were 2 for 3 by the end of the second Over. They rallied however with Fraser Gosse scoring 23 but with Falkland's bowling and fielding remaining tight throughout, 72 was all that Glenrothes could muster and it didn't really look enough. Falkland started well with Connor Ryan hitting two sixes in the first over, and although there were a few hiccups, Falkland got there with 5 Overs to spare thanks mainly to Adam Ferguson's 24 and Steven Meikle's 18 not out.
It was a lovely night for cricket and a good victory for the club. It is the third time that Falkland have been champions of Fife since 2009. It makes up for a few recent disappointments!
