Falkland's magnificent start to the season continued with an easy win over Stenhousemuir at The Tryst on Sunday. The conditions were still a bit damp, so when Brock Ditchmen won the toss, he invited Stenhousemuir to bat first. The home side struggled to make runs on a difficult wicket - their top score was 14 - against good Falkland bowling and were all out for 79 in the 41st Over. Ditchmen took 4 for 17 and Hamilton 3 for 16 as Stenhousemuir collapsed. The only black mark for Falkland was the concession of 14 wides.

It took Falkland only 13.2 Overs to win the game by 8 wickets, with Bryn Cleaver hitting a good 31 not out. In truth Falkland were never really stretched, and it was sad in a way to see Stenhousemuir, once one of the great clubs of Scottish cricket, in such dire straits. But perhaps it was Falkland who made them poor, and Falkland are going from strength to strength with talk of a Scottish League and Cup double not too fanciful, if this form can be maintained! But a great deal will depend on how the team performs against the really good teams of Scotland, for example, Grange, who will be at Scroggie on Saturday.
