Falkland 218 for 8
(S Sharif 124, B Ditchmen 25, C McKellar 3 for 36)
SMRH 144 all out (
B Moses 47, S Sharif 4 for 14)
Falkland Won by 74 Runs
Falkland climbed several places up the table with a good win at Ferry Road on Saturday against SMRH. The return to winning ways was very welcome following a couple of sub-standard performances, the only down side of the performance being that the victory depended to a very large extent on one man, Safyaan Sharif who scored 124 and then took 4 for 14. But there was also a welcome improvement in the fielding, and a generally positive attitude to the game which has not always been obvious of late.
Yet Falkland were off to a bad start with the new look opening partnership of Connor Ryan and Bryn Cleaver failing to sparkle, but then Safyaan Sharif and Brock Ditchmen got together to put on 53 vital runs for the 4th wicket. Then Geordie Gallagher and Ashkay Nangia both stayed with Safyaan Sharif as he built his fine innings of 124, and Falkland reached 218 for 8 which looked a good total.
SMRH, however, worked hard at their task and for a while were actually ahead of Falkland on the D/L method, but their middle order had no answer to Sharif's pace, and when Ditchmen got the vital wicket of Brad Moses, the innings soon collapsed and Falkland won comfortably by 74 runs. Falkland's League challenge has been resurrected!
