Kirkwood 159 all out
(T McBride 46, W Sullivan 5-38)
Falkland 125 all out
(W Sullivan 28, A Yadav 28no, S Beveridge 5-33)
Falkland lost by 34 runs.
In lovely weather in front of a large crowd on Sunday Falkland lost their Village Cup game to Kirkwood who arrived replete with players of Dumfries CC. Inserted by Falkland, Kirkwood batted first but never really dominated the Falkland bowling for whom Wayne Sullivan with his 5 for 38 was outstanding. For Kirkwood, Tommy McBride was top scorer with 46.
In reply, Falkland never really got going after a few early losses, and at one point were 52 for 7. Wayne Sullivan however steadied the ship with a good 28, and even when the last two came together with only 84 runs on the board, the crowd were treated to some fine aggressive hitting from no 11 Avin Yadav who revealed a batting talent which had hitherto been hidden as he hit 28 not out with five 4s, and a certain amount of panic began to appear in the Dumfries ranks. However Scott Meikle was bowled for 14, and Falkland finished 34 runs short.
