Falkland 358 for 3
(A Bychkov 150 not out, N Lockyer 84 not out, A Ferguson 43, D Gray 36)
Penicuik 114 all out
(S Taylor 36, A Yadav 4 for 29, R Hepburn 3 for 14).
Falkland won by 244 runs
In what was believed to be Falkland's highest ever score, Alex Bychkov hit 150 not out, Nick Lockyer 84 not out, Adam Ferguson 43 and Davie Gray 36 as the home team amassed a grand total of 354 for 3 in front of a reasonable attendance at Scroggie on Saturday. Conditions were ideal, the wicket had been well prepared, and Falkland took full advantage of a dispirited bowling and fielding performance from Penicuik with Alex Bychkov's score of 150 not out containing 3 sixes and 18 fours. He was well supported by the other batsmen and the ball more than once was lost in the adjacent fields and had to be replaced. It was a display of hitting that one is seldom likely to see again.
Faced with such a total, Penicuik never looked vaguely in contention with only ex-Falkland player Shaun Taylor putting up any kind of resistance. Yadav's 4 for 29 was the best bowling performance but the most entertaining moment of the innings was surely his juggling catch to dismiss the opening batsman.
It was a fine Falkland performance, and they await the arrival of League leaders Glenrothes with anticipation next week.
