Falkland CC have great pleasure in announcing the signing of Safyaan Sharif for next season as they begin their campaign in the new Premier Division (Eastern) of the Scottish League. Safyaan is a well known local player who has played for Largo, Dunnikier and Dunfermline, as well as Clydesdale for whom he performed last year, finishing third in the Western Premier League batting averages with an average of 55.62
Safyaan is actually an Englishman born in Huddersfield in 1991, but as he grew up and played most of his cricket in Fife, he is of course looked upon as Scottish, and has since 2011 played 40 times for Scotland in all the various categories. His best score is 60, and on two occasions he has returned figures of 4 for 27. He is a right handed batsman and a right arm fast medium paced bowler, and those who have seen him play are agreed that he is a very talented cricketer who will do a good job for Falkland.
