Some very sad news from Falkland CC.

It is with great sadness that we report the loss of Mrs Margaret Watson, one of our most valued, respected, long-serving and loyal members.

Mrs Watson, as she was fondly known to many, will long be remembered for her outstanding and tireless contribution made over many years.

Margaret was well known for her cheery smile and welcoming manner. She was renowned for producing cricket teas of the highest standard; something which the club continues to be well known for. Although there were many, perhaps one of Margaret’s proudest cricketing moments was when she cut the ribbon to open the newly refurbished pavilion in 1992.

In recent times Margaret wasn’t able to make it up to Scroggie as often as she would have liked but when she did she still enjoyed watching her sons and grandsons playing and did so with immense pride.

The Watson family have long been associated with Falkland CC, with several family members having played and who continue to play a major role in the success of the club.

The club will forever be indebted to Margaret who will be sorely missed.

Our thoughts are with the family at this extremely sad time.

Margaret’s funeral will take place on Saturday 18th January at the Chapel Royal, Falkland at 10am with burial at Falkland Cemetery thereafter.
