Arbroath Prove Too Strong for Young Falkland Team

Our U18s put up a brave show tonight against a strong Arbroath United side. The winning margin was a convincing 66 runs but despite this there were some encouraging performances particularly from Dev (23 runs and 2 for 19) and Connor (42 runs and 2 for 13). Arbroath's batters showed no mercy on anything short, full or loose and they were able to maintain a good run rate throughout the duration of their innings. Arbroath finished on 155 for 6 in their 20 overs a total which pleasingly included only 5 extras - 2 of which were wides ! In reply we were always behind the run rate against some disciplined bowling. Connor (42) and Dev (23) made a valiant effort and put on 62 for the 2nd wicket but when they both fell within an over of each other it was game over. We finished on 89 for 6 Special mention to wee Grantie who will have a few bruises tomorrow after some brave stops in the field and Arthur who came in at the end and clipped a couple of nice 2s and ended with a strike rate of 200 !
