13s Continue To Improve

The U13s played Arbroath in a friendly in what was their first match for several weeks.

On a dull evening at Scroggie Arbroath won the toss and decided to bat.Falcons Captain Arthur opened the bowling with Grant and Lyle who both kept things fairly tight with some accurate deliveries.However, it took a change of bowling to achieve a break through and in the 8th over George struck twice. Arthur took a good catch to dismiss S Campbell(20)and then a couple of balls later George clean bowled L Porter - Arbroath 34 for 2.In the 9th over Arthur clean bowled the other opener A Bruar for 13 - 39 for 3. This was to be the Falcons last success as the Arbroath batsmen particularly D Sinclair who retired on 30 (7 fours) batted very sensibly and took the score to 104 for 3 after the 20 overs. All the Falcons bowlers did well Grant 0 for 10, Lyle 0 for 28, George 2 for 25, Arthur 1 for 18, Sohaib 0 for 16 and Tom 0 for 6. The fielding was good too - fine stops from Harris and Stuart with Marcus excellent behind the wickets !

Arthur and Marcus opened for the Falcons and were scoring steadily before some crazy running saw Marcus run out. Worse was to follow as in the same over Lyle batting at No3 was also run out when a ball was hit straight to a fielder - 8 for 2 and on the back foot. At the halfway point the score was 41 for 3 after Hector had mistimed one and was caught and bowled. Thereafter the run rate began to increase and scoring became more difficult against some accurate bowling. The stand out in the Falcons batting was Adam Irvine who punished the bad ball and scored his highest ever score of 30 retired which included 5 fours. Well done Adam and also the other boys who supported him - Ricky making his debut and also Grant. Good all round team effort boys well done.
