Glendelvine won by 6 wickets
With three call offs after 10pm on Saturday evening, Falkland travelled to second top Glendelvine with only nine players on Sunday, making what was always going to be a tricky fixture even more challenging.
Losing the toss yet again, Falkland were asked to bat. Scholsey and Grant Doig (21), got the innings off to a solid start before the first wicket fell at 24. We continued to score fairly steadily with the innings being built around Geordie’s 58, however wickets were falling steadily and the last pair of Grant Langlands and myself came together with the score at only 117. Good batting from Grant (11 no) and my less aesthetically pleasing efforts, (15 no), meant we added 28 in the last few overs giving us a potentially defendable total of 145.
Our opening bowling was good with Grant and Cameron going for only 8 and 15 runs respectively without either getting a deserved wicket. It was Greg who came on and trapped both openers lbw in the same over. The first of these sparked the comedy moment of the day, (which I have been told had to go in the report). As I ran to celebrate the wicket I slipped, tripped over my own feet and landed face first on the square – cue hilarious laughter and comments about the heavy roller.
Scuba secured our third wicket, and third lbw, but by this stage the writing was on the wall as Glendelvine were well on top. We secured one more wicket before losing in the 32nd over – not a bad effort with only nine players.
