Geordie Just Misses Out on Century

Falkland: 189 for 6 in 40 overs
(G. Gallagher 96, G. Lawson 34, St. Meikle 26)

Callandar: 71 all out in 25.2 overs
(D.May, 5 for 15, G. Gallagher 2 for 5, L. Robertson 2 for 16, R. Cook 1 for 20)

Falkland won by 118 runs

Falkland travelled to St. Modans on Sunday to take on new team Callandar. Losing the toss yet again, Falkland were asked to bat on a wicket that looked pretty awful and lived up to expectations. Added to that was an outfield that might have been cut this year but was definitely the best fielder on show; scoring runs was never going to be easy. With boundaries at a premium, the running between the wickets was going to be key and it was good throughout.

After losing Devon May early, Gregor and Geordie battled well to see off the opening bowlers and we were comfortable at around 60 for 1 at drinks. After that, the batsmen pressed the accelerator and finished on 189 for 6 after our 40 overs. Geordie was unlucky to chop on for 96 and he was ably supported by Gregor with 34 and Scuba with 26.

After a really short tea interval, (the opposition couldnt get the kettle on or the cakes out due to a function in the St. Modans clubhouse), Falkland went out to defend a total that always looked like being plenty. Greg Chambers and Ron Cook opened the bowling with Ron taking the early wicket and being unlucky not to get at least another two. Greg's tight spell leaked only 7 runs from 5 overs.

After the bowling changes, Geordie and Devon each took two wickets in two balls in quick succession which effectively finished the match. Devon, who finished with 5 for 15, and the golden arm of young Lyle Robertson, (2 for 16) delivered the last rites as Falkland secured their second successive league win.
