The Cricket Scotland Men’s T20 Scottish Cup, formerly known as the Murgitroyd T20,
is this year being played throughout the season split into 4 regional qualifying tournaments, culminating in a finals day.
Falkland are playing in the Caley Regional competition and this evening at Scroggie Park played their first match against Perth Doo’cot, who have playing for them this year Scottish International Safyaan Sharif.
The Perth side won the toss and elected to bat first. The visitors appeared to get off to good start but after T. Hussain (27 runs from 20 balls) and Safyaan Sharif (28 runs from 30 balls), were dismissed the innings faded somewhat. Perth Doo’cot scored just 109 for the loss of 6 wickets from their 20 overs. Alan Hamilton returned bowling figures of 2 wickets for 14 runs from his 4 overs.
Falkland openers this evening were Euan Sloan and Jeremy Martins. Unfortunately, Jeremy was bowled early on by Sharif but Kyle Jacobs then joined Euan at the crease and they put on 79 runs before Jacobs was bowled by M.Assad for 33 runs from 29 balls. After Steven Meikle was given out LBW for 6, Julian De Jäger. joined Euan and they saw Falkland home, reaching 113 for 3 from just 14.4 overs. Euan Sloan was 45 not out from 41 balls and Julian De Jäger. not out with a blistering 16 runs from just 5 balls.
Falkland won by 7 wickets and next Tuesday welcome visitors Arbroath to Scroggie Park for their second Match in this T20 competition.
