Steven Meikle was Falkland’s Captain (and Wicket Keeper) for this match,. He won the toss and elected to bat first.

Steven scored 26 from 54 balls but Ryan Jennings top scored with 29 from 25 balls. Falkland reached a total of 169 for 8 wickets from their allotted 40 overs.

Meigle lost 2 early wickets but when Adi Hegde was joined by Sami Ejaz the innings really started to progress toward the target. Hegde was out when the score was 68 having scored 25 from 53 balls. Ejaz continued to push along the visitor’s reply until he was caught by Graeme Watson off the bowling of Logan Briggs when the score was 147, having hit 64 runs from 79 balls.

Meigle wickets continued to fall as they inched ever closer to Falkland’s total. The last wicket stand was between Iain Christie and Iain Stewart. With the score on 167 and 3 balls remaining the batters desperately tried to run 2 runs but they were thwarted when the Umpires ruled that neither batter had grounded their bat behind the line and therefore no runs were scored. On the penultimate ball Iain Stewart made 1 run, bringing the total to 168. This meant that Meigle required 2 runs off the final ball ( if scores were tied Falkland would win because they had lost fewer wickets). Logan Briggs made the last delivery which bowled Christie to loud applause from the gathered Falkland crowd.

Falkland won by 1 run.

In Round 4 of this competition Falkland play local rivals Freuchie at Scroggie Park on Sunday 4th June.
