Falkland 1st XI Lost by 36 runs
Falkland tonight played their last game in the T20 competition at Lochlands, Arbroath on Tuesday night. It turned out to be an honourable defeat for a fairly inexperienced team who will neverthless have benefitted from playing at such a fine ground as Lochlands. Arbroath won the toss and, and decided to bat, their high total of 174 for 6 owing a great deal to the 82 of Marc Petrie. Falkland did not bowl badly, but perhaps lacked a cutting edge apart from Greg Chambers who took 3 for 33. In reply Lyle Robertson hit a sparkling innings of 69 before being caught, and he might have won the game for Falkland, but he was ill-supported by the rest of his team.
It was a good entertaining game on a fine night, and an interesting factor was that both teams had a girl playing for them - Meghan McColl for Arbroath and Emma Halliwell for Falkland.
