Cricket Scotland T20 Cup
Falkland 111 all out in 19.4 overs
(St. Meikle 42, C. Paton 14)
Perth Doocot 66 for 7 in 20 overs
(R. Hepburn 3 for 14, L. Briggs 2 for 19)
Falkland won by 45 runs
Winning the toss, Falkland captain Adam Ferguson decided to have a bat first. In the 3rd over, both openers fell in identical fashion, caught at cover. This brought Steven Meikle and Adam to the crease and they steadied the innings. Steven’s 42, (including 3 sixes), was the backbone of the innings. Cammy Paton made a useful 14 and with the Ryans, (Hepburn and Jennings), both reaching double figures, Falkland made it up to 111 – which looked to be a useful total.
It proved to be more than enough. In the face of consistent, accurate bowling, backed up by sound fielding, the visitors were never able to match the required run rate, despite keeping wickets in hand. Falkland bowled only 2 wides and had 75 dot balls in the 20 overs which were bowled in just over an hour.
Perth Doocot finished on 66 for 7 with Ryan Hepburn taking 3 for 14, Logan Briggs 2 for 19 and there was one each for Alan Hamilton and Greg Chambers.
