Falkland 267 for 7 in 45 Overs
(H Cooray 117 not out, A Ferguson 40, St Meikle 28, L Robertson 28)
Huntly 30 all out
(A Hamilton 5 for 4, R Hepburn 3 for 7)
Falkland won by 237 runs
Today saw another devastating victory for Falkland as they beat a weakened Huntly team by the astonishing amount of 237 runs. Falkland were invited to bat in sultry conditions, and although they lost a wicket in the first Over, they reached 267 with professional Harsha Cooray putting on 117 not out with 13 4s and 2 6s, and he was well supported by Steven Meikle, Lyle Robertson and captain Adam Ferguson. Harsha has now scored an astonishing 389 runs in four innings, and has an average of infinity because he has not yet been dismissed! And yet the general opinion was that Huntly had fielded well and bowled well (until Harsha took them apart at the end) and that the conditions were difficult for batting!
Huntly's 30 all out was disappointing to put it mildly, but that should take nothing away from Alan Hamilton's 5 for 4, Ryan Hepburn's 3 for 7 and some good Falkland catching. One hates to carp at such a fine bowling performance, but 7 Wides out of 30 does once again seem to be a very high proportion! (Some people are never pleased!)
