Falkland won by 121 runs
In gloriously sunny weather, Falkland beat Forfarshire II in a fine game of cricket at Falkland on Saturday. Adam Ferguson won the toss and Falkland batted with Graeme Watson and Steven Meikle putting on 165 for the second wicket, with Meikle scoring the first century of his career. It was a fine innings with some great strokes, seventeen 4s and one 6, and although he had one or two "lives", his century was well deserved and much appreciated by his team mates.
Facing a huge total of 269, Forfarshire put up a certain resistance, and as long as the veteran Graham Garden is around, all things are possible but Garden went lbw to the left arm spin of Logan Briggs, and the innings subsided to 148 all out. It was a good Falkland bowling and fielding performance. Logan Briggs was the pick of the bowlers with an impressive 4 for 14, and Steven Meikle, who had great game, took 3 for 33. There were also some good catches and the ground fielding was generally tight. Only 6 Wides were conceded today, a considerable improvement on some recent shockers.
All in all, a splendid day's cricket in fine weather contested by two sporting teams and Falkland worthy winners. They have now won three games out of three in the North Eastern Championship.
