Falkland won by 15 runs
Decent weather greeted the teams for the final pre season match of the year. Batting first, Falkland made an excellent start, the highlight of the opening partnership being Euan Sloan’s majestic straight 6. Wickets fell at regular intervals and, although the score did continue to tick up, it looked at one point as if Falkland would not bat their 35 overs.
Only 4 batsmen made double figures, with Arul top scoring with 49 not out which enabled Falkland to post a score of 158/8. Andrew Gibson batted well to stay with Arul for several overs at the end.
After a quick turn round, Greg Chambers took the new ball and struck in the 1st over. Andrew Gibson bowled well, opening the bowling at this level for the 1st time. Again, wickets fell at regular intervals with the spinners doing the rest of the damage – we may see that a few times this season. Logan had picked up 3, bowling with good control and Falkland looked in control before some lower order hitting put the pressure on again. Logan came back on and, despite being struck for a couple of boundaries, held his nerve and took the last 2 wickets to secure a 15 run victory.
