The final of the 2016 Fife Cup between Falkland and Glenrothes took place at the neutral ground of Peoples Park, Freuchie.
Glenrothes won the toss and asked Falkland to bat first. Falkland scored 121 in their 20 overs with the loss of 7 wickets. Equal top scorers were Kris Glen and Safyaan Sharif with 28 runs each. Glenrothes' best bowling figures were returned by Hudson with 3 wickets for 16 runs from his 4 overs.
Glenrothes made a steady start to their reply with Chris Greaves scoring 47 from 47 balls, supported by Culley and Hudson who scored 16 and 18 respectively. The batting team survived a flurry of wickets during the later overs to reach a winning score of 122 for the loss of 5 wickets from their 20 overs. Falkland's Brock Ditchmen took 2 wickets for just 21 runs in his 4 overs.
Both teams should be congratulated for providing such a competitive and enjoyable match for the good crowd of supporters, who in turn helped create a real 'Village Cricket' spirit for the evening at Peoples Park.
