Falkland beat Glenrothes by 16 runs (43 overs) (D/L)
Falkland had an important win in the Fife derby in the Eastern Premier League on Saturday, beating both Glenrothes and the weather to win by 16 runs on the Duckworth Lewis method in a tight encounter.
After a delayed start in distinctly unpromising conditions, Falkland's openers Mike Morris and Ardene Ruhode put on 51 for the 1st wicket and various other batsmen, notably Ben Strachan, contributed well to the total of 173 for 8 from 43 overs.
Following further disruption from the weather at the tea interval, the D/L target of 136 from 26 overs might have been achieved if someone had stayed with Keith Rawling who hit a very impressive 51 not out in Glenrothes's 119 all out. But Falkland bowled and fielded well, and are now in fourth bottom place in the League, relegation worries having eased at least temporarily. It was also a good start for the captaincy of Stuart Campbell.
