Penicuik 119 all out
(C Ashforth 36; J Henderson 3 for 18)
Falkland 122 for 1
(J Henderson 57 not out; A Bychkov 35 not out)
Falkland had an easy victory at Penicuik on Saturday. Maybe the biggest opponent was the weather, but on a day when many other games were rained off, both teams showed commendable commitment in getting the game played. The game did not start until 2.20 and was reduced in the first instance to 36 Overs and then 31 Overs after a shower. Penicuik struggled to reach 119 in the face of some fine Falkland bowling and fielding, although Ashforth put up some resistance with an aggressive 36.
Such are the vagaries of Duckworth Lewis that although Penicuik scored 119, Falkland had to get 122! They were seldom in trouble however with Jack Henderson, one eye always on the weather which was threatening rain, scoring a brilliant 57 in less than 20 Overs. He was well backed up by the solid Adam Ferguson and the more flamboyant Alex Bychkov.
Forfarshire’s game was off, so Falkland remain second with only two games to go – an away fixture at Glenrothes and a home game against Corstorphine.
