Many congratulations to Ryan Hepburn - Honorary Life Member

The club held it’s first on-line AGM last Sunday as over 40 members, sponsors, supporters and friends were welcomed by President Robbie Nellies.

The various reports covered what had been a difficult 12 months due to the pandemic with very little cricket but noted that there were several positives including the popularity of the beer garden, over 70 new social memberships and a very successful festive raffle. During the early days of the pandemic the club had been delighted to help out with local food deliveries and had forged a strong relationship with Falkland Golf Club.

Despite the lack of cricket investment had continued particularly in the square with further ground improvements planned for 2021. As regular income streams are likely to again be impacted this year alternative fund raising ideas are being investigated.

Junior cricket has been badly affected over the last 12 months. However, it is hoped that the club will again be able to run the ever popular All Stars and Dynamos Cricket (soft ball 8-11yrs) programmes as well as Incrediball and hardball groups again this summer. A re-launch of Women and Girls cricket will also take place.

Planning is well underway for the new season but there is still a great deal of uncertainty as to what shape it will take. It was agreed to delay the setting of 2021 subscription levels until the impact of Covid is fully considered.

Several events postponed from 2020 will take place to celebrate the club’s 160th Anniversary.

Honorary Life Membership was conferred on Ryan Hepburn in recognition of his outstanding service to the club and to cricket. Ryan has been involved since he was a boy, played for over 3 decades and had two successful spells as 1st XI Captain. A great ambassador for Falkland Cricket Club, a well respected individual and hard-working member.

Dave Jackman was thanked for his 16 years service as Match Secretary and David Potter for his 11 years as club secretary. Dave J remains on the committee with David P moving to Match Secretary. A warm welcome was extended to new committee members Lesley, Colin and Ross with those standing down thanked for their valuable contribution.
